Wendy Meister

Wendy stumbled upon Polymer clay by accident while looking for a modelling material to make a Tiger hunter figure for one of her altered book art projects. The clay worked out perfectly and she started to look around to see what other people were making with it.

Attending a beginners Polymer Clay course at the London Jewellery School was the start of her journey into discovering and learning the techniques of jewellery making with both new and traditional materials like polymer clay, silver, gold, and semi-precious and gemstones.

Other materials occasionally find their way into her pieces such as sea glass and sea ceramics collected from the Thames estuary, each piece a small part of the history of the city of London. Strong influences in Wendy’s current work are Kimono fabrics, Tubes and Peacock feathers and the pieces she will show during the open house will be some favourite pieces chosen specially to share with you.  Loving jewellery making but wanting to work on a larger scale Wendy is currently exploring the possibilities of creating small sculptural pieces. The open house will be the first time she has shown this latest development in her work.
